My grade 2s have been working on place value for the past 2 weeks. They have all successfully become "Place Value Superheros!" The first week the kids used lots of different manipulatives to show tens and ones. They had a great time creating 2-digit numbers using pretzel sticks and Cheerios:)
The kids made the first letter of their name using Base 10 Blocks. Then they used pictures of Base 10 blocks to record how they made it and recorded how many tens and ones they used.
Here's a little peek and the unit.
I have no idea if anyone is visiting this little blog of mine but if you stopped by ... please know that I appreciate it and would love to hear from you:)
Bye for now,
Natalie
Your unit looks great! We're in the middle of studying place value right now too!

An Apple a Day in First Grade
I stopped by:-) Love this unit. I teach a 2/3 blend but we level all the kids for math...based on ability more than grade specific. One year, I did both grades for math and it made me crazy! Sending good thoughts your way!

I love your site and visit often. I have not got far in creating my own website, but I love visiting yours. I teach a grade 2/3 split and love your ideas. I just wish I had the same split as you so I could use your resources more frequently! Keep up the greeat work! Jackie
