Five for Friday {We Grew Candy Canes!}

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

Here we go!
On Monday my kiddos arrived to find a note from our elf Flynn and this...

So we carefully planted our magic elf seeds in the magic sugar
and waited patiently.

The note promised that if we were extra good
we would grow a special treat in two short nights!

We arrived on Wednesday to find out that we had grown candy canes!
Nothing short of a Christmas miracle!

To get in the festive spirit my daughter and I went and got
our nails done.  Super cute!
I wanted to share with you what I did for my student gifts.
I got these adorable mini lunch box tins and filled them
with some goodies.
I consider this one the absolute BEST!

Nikki over at MelonHeadz launched her MelonHeadz Addict Membership!
 I was #3 to join!
If you love her graphics as much as I do then you must go
and join right now!
Just in case you missed the pictures of my parent gifts I
wanted to share them with you because they
were the best and easiest gift I have ever done
in the 20 years I have been teaching!
They were Pinterest inspired - of course!

I bought the plates at Dollarama and the kids used
Sharpies to draw their picture.
Then I took them home and bakes them at
300 for 30 minutes.
Presto!

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!

Bye for now,
Natalie

Fantastic Parent Gift and Some Updates!

I found this fantastic idea for parent gifts on Pinterest and it is by far the best idea ever!

I bought plain white plates from the dollar store and Sharpie markers at Costco.  The kids drew on their plate with the Sharpies and then I took them home and baked them at 300 degrees for 30 minutes so the ink won't come off.  They turned out beautifully!  The best part is that they are 100% made by the children.
Here's a few pictures.

The last one was done by my daughter so I could have a demo:)
If you don't already have an idea for parents gifts then I highly suggest this one!  Just so easy!

I also wanted to let you know that I updated my unit "Penguin Perfect".  This unit is about nonfiction text features and it is done in an interactive notebook style.  I added three more text features and another lapbook option.

This unit is huge - 213 pages!!!  If you already own it you just have to go to your "My Purchases" page and download the unit again.  You can click any of the pictures above and it will take you right to it:)

I hope you all survive the last few days before the break!  I can't wait to sleep in!

Bye for now,
Natalie

Cyber Monday - Get Ready to Get Your Shop On!

I know you've probably already heard - but it's worth repeating!
TpT is having its last big sale of the year on Monday and Tuesday!
Everything in my store will be 20% off and then tpt will give you
another 10% off when you enter the code:  CYBER

I am super excited to let you  know that I finished my latest unit
"Rockin' Reindeer".
My kiddos got a glimpse of it on Friday and they are psyched!

We've done a little bit of notebooking so I thought it would be
fun to set this unit up in an "interactive notebook" style.
I have made a non-fiction interactive notebook booklet.
We will share the information on the SmartBoard and then
the kids will complete their own page in their booklet.

Here's a sample of how the student pages will look:

The pictures above just show you a bit of what is included
in this section of the unit.
Here's a collage of all the the pages.
I have included coloured pages so you can make a sample
of the pages for your students to see.
All the student pages have black and white graphics
for easy photocopying:)

I wanted this unit to cover multiple literacy components.
I have also included 5 literacy centers...

and 5 word work centers....

and a literacy pack to go with the ADORABLE book
"Olive the Other Reindeer"!
Let me tell you this book is super cute!

This booklet is also done in an interactive notebook style.

If you are looking for something a little different to do this
holiday season then you can click HERE
to have a look at the unit.

Before I go I thought I would give you a little holiday highlight
of some things you might want to add to your wishlist:)

Just click the picture and it will take you to the
product for a closer look.

I going to spend the afternoon getting my wishlist ready so grab a warm drink and head over to tpt and do the same:)

Bye for now,
Natalie
